Lenten Devotionals Are Here!
Lenten Devotional booklets are now available for pick-up at worship or in the office during office hours. Lent begins on Wednesday, February 18th, with Ash Wednesday.
This devotional accompanies our worship series for Lent: “Tell Me Something Good” by A Sanctified Art. The devotional blesses us with a variety of different art forms to enhance our spiritual journey through the forty days of Lent, including poetry, artwork, scriptural commentary, and hymns. Some of the hymns will be used in worship, as will some of the other elements.
The creative team at A Sanctified Art, and the guest contributors to the devotional and the worship series, come from a variety of Christian traditions and ethnic backgrounds and have different gifts to offer us. Pastor Ann says, “I was inspired to choose this series by one of our members who had previously served on the St. Matthew Racial Justice Committee. This member talked of the importance of hearing and listening to different voices in worship, in our study of scripture, and in our faith journey.” The series from A Sanctified Art gives us that opportunity, while grounding us in the good news of Jesus.
The devotionals come in two sizes. Standard size is 5½″ × 8″. We have a limited number of the large-print version, which is 8½″ × 11″. A suggested donation of $3 for the standard size and $5 for the large print will help offset the cost of printing.

Peace Be with You
Many United Methodist churches share Passing the Peace each Sunday. It’s that moment when we turn to one another and say,
“The peace of Christ be with you.”
“And also with you.”
“And also with you.”
According to The United Methodist Book of Worship, this moment “is an act of reconciliation and blessing, based on New Testament Christian practice… It is not simply our peace but the peace of Christ that we offer” (emphasis added).
That distinction matters. Passing the Peace is not the same thing as greeting friends or welcoming visitors, or a time to catch up--though all of those are wonderful parts of church life!...
