Summer Liturgists Needed
As we look ahead to the summer months, I am beginning to prepare our worship schedule for June through September, and I would love to invite you to consider serving as a liturgist.
Liturgists help lead us in worship—offering prayers, reading scripture, and helping guide the congregation through the service. It is a meaningful and accessible way to participate in the leadership of worship, and all are welcome (no prior experience needed!).
If you will be in Mesa this summer and are interested in serving, please let me know. I would be grateful to include you as we continue to shape worship together. Just send an email to me at PastorAnn@stmatthewmesa.org.

Help Support Our Youth Ministry
Do you believe that supporting young people in their faith is important?
Do you believe in the mission of making disciples for Jesus Christ, AND that the mission includes our students?
Do you believe in the mission of making disciples for Jesus Christ, AND that the mission includes our students?
If you said yes to either of these questions, then we are hoping you will also say "Yes!" to supporting our student ministry. Specifically, we are looking for
an adult presence during post-service fellowship time, and
support to ensure we are meeting Safe Sanctuary guidelines (which require at least two adults from different households present).
Because Pastor Ann is often tied up immediately after worship, having a consistent adult presence is essential—not just for safety, but for building relationships with our youth.
This is a simple but meaningful way to make a difference.
*No teaching required
*Just presence, welcome, and support
*A chance to invest in the lives of young people

If you’re willing to help (even occasionally), please reach out to Pastor Ann. All adults will need to complete the Safe Gathering background check and training. Your presence matters more than you know—it makes ministry possible.

Wanted: Sunday School Teachers
Do you have love to share?
Do you want children to know that God loves them?
Our children are showing up. The curriculum is ready. All that is missing is YOU!

You don’t need to create lessons — everything is prepared. You simply need a caring presence and a willingness to guide conversation and activities. With just a few volunteers, we can rotate teachers, so this does not have to be an every-week commitment.
If we want to continue offering faith formation for our children, we need a few adults to step forward now. Please contact Pastor Ann or Susan T, the chair of SPRC, through the church office.

Discover the Arizona Faith Network
Have you ever wondered what it might look like for people of different faiths to truly come together—not just to coexist, but to learn from one another, serve alongside one another, and build something better together?
That’s the heart of the Arizona Faith Network (AFN).
AFN is a statewide interfaith organization that brings together people from many religious traditions to foster understanding, strengthen community relationships, and work for the common good. Their guiding vision is simple but powerful: “Be Together • Talk Together • Act Together.” . . .

A Note of Thanks
Matthew 25:40 "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."
On behalf of all unhoused individuals in downtown Mesa who are served by First Mesa UMC's Outreach Center, your St. Matthew Missions and Outreach committee thanks you for so many generous donations of men's used clothing during our February project!
On March 5, three SUVs full of clothing were delivered to FMUMC, and received by a team of their volunteers waiting to organize it for immediate use. They were especially appreciative of the care you took in only donating clothing and accessories they specifically need. This committee also appreciates how diligent the SMUMC congregation is in responding to community needs such as this one.
Sincerely,
Greg B, Carol C, Virginia H, Laura M & Rosemary J

P.S. We also received a lovely handwritten note from Virginia, the Clothing Closet Coordinator at First Mesa UMC, and wanted you to enjoy it!
Dear St. Matthew congregation,
What a wonderful gift you gave to the less fortunate in our city. They will enjoy the clean clothes for months to come. Your generosity was overwhelming. Just a thank you is not enough. You did God's work to clothe the poor, and we are thankful.
The clothes were all so neatly packed and all were clean and ready for the racks. We have never received such a donation. Our hearts say many thanks to St. Matthew Methodist Church.
Our love, from the Clothes Closet at First Methodist Church of Mesa

Thank you!
We would like to offer a great big THANK YOU to all of our St. Matthew family and friends who helped with our week of hosting Family Promise. Once again it was a great success and the families had a very positive experience. We and they are so blessed to have you participate in this wonderful ministry!
Thank you all again,
Carol and Rosemary
