January 7, 2026

The Council of Bishops of The United Methodist Church stands in full solidarity with The Evangelical Methodist Churches of Latin America and the Caribbean (CIEMAL) and wholeheartedly affirms their Pastoral Letter in the Face of the Military Action of the United States of America Against Venezuela.

We join our Methodist siblings across Latin America and the Caribbean in condemning all acts of violence, military aggression, and violations of national sovereignty. As followers of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, we reject every ideology and action that diminishes the sacred worth of human life or deepens cycles of fear, instability, and injustice....

We urge United Methodists around the world to unite in prayer for the Venezuelan people and for all communities affected by violence and instability. We call upon our congregations, clergy, and mission partners, to remain attentive to emerging humanitarian needs and to embody Christ’s light in the midst of suffering....

In Christ’s peace,
Bishop Tracy S. Malone
President, Council of Bishops
The United Methodist Church

From the weekly email 12/5/25:
A Year of Awe—December
It is my intention to gather with St. Matthew family and friends every month to celebrate life by connecting with awe. But December is upon us and I do not see an easy or convenient time to gather as one group. There are, however, an abundance of opportunities to experience awe this month.
Instead of gathering together to experience awe, let’s gather our experiences on Facebook and share where we find awe around us. You might find awe in your family, in community events, or in gathering with friends.
Find your awe and then share your pictures and your experiences on the St. Matthew Facebook page. Mark your post with #yearofawe.
And watch for announcements about our January 2026 Awe Walk. You won’t want to miss it!
Blessings,
Pastor Ann

Thank you!
A HUGE "thank you" to all of the volunteers and donors who helped with the food box program this past year. Without your help this wouldn't be the program it is. Thanks to all of you for your support of this important ministry!
