Youth News: Middle School and High School Students
St. Matthew UMC is blessed with an active group of Youth who regularly run the sound and tech booth, read scripture, lead the congregation in worship, teach children's Sunday School, and make coffee for fellowship time. And we have two new confirmands who just joined the church as full members!
There are several opportunities for Youth coming up this summer (2026).
Annual Conference Youth Program

First, Youth can participate in Annual Conference, which is June 17-21, and begins on the 17th with pizza with Bishop Carlo. Basecamp location for Youth at Annual Conference is Smoot Hall Basement at Lakeview UMC. This is a great opportunity to see how the United Methodist Church is organized, how decisions are made, and to get to meet youth from all over the Conference! Families can sign youth up for individual days or events. To learn more or to register to attend Annual Conference, go to https://dsc-reg.brtapp.com/2026ACYouth .
Summer Camp at Mingus Mountain
Junior High and Senior High Camps are filled with new and old friends, exciting activities, new adventures, and engaging worship. Campers participate in traditional Mingus Mountain camp activities with the added daily freedom to choose new activities! Both camps will be the same week (June 28-July 3) and will provide an experience campers will remember for years to come!
6-day, 5-night camps (regularly $725, NOW $362.50) are open to campers from brand-new 7th graders through graduating seniors. June 28-July 3, 2026
Junior High/Senior High Night Owl campers experience all the joys of camp at this “upside-down” session (July 12-17), but while staying up late (until 2:30 – 3:00 a.m.) and sleeping until 11:30 a.m. Become a true night owl with nighttime hikes, night zipping, glow-in-the-dark painting, night disc golf, and so much more to explore! We’ll share in this fun while growing our faith, growing friendships, and growing our night vision! Who knows? You may not need a flashlight after spending a week in community under the cover of darkness!
The 6-day, 5-night camps listed here are open to campers entering 7th grade in the fall through seniors graduating in 2026. (There are other camps for grades 3-6; click on the camp logo to learn more!)

Watch for more news as events get planned for the summer!
And if any of our youth or their families have suggestions of youth activities for late May-July, email them to Pastor Ann!
